How to Pair Perfumes 101
Everyone wants to stand out in a crowd. However, just picking up a pre-made perfume bottle isnt enough.
Pairing perfumes are an excellent way to create your own unique scent.
You’ll have a scent that literally hasn’t been invented yet.
The First Step

Perfumes with multiple notes or scents can be difficult to balance with each other. Single note perfumes such as vanilla or rose are the best place to start.
To start, simply spray the perfumes onto your wrists one after the other.
Avoid rubbing your wrist together. This can strip the perfumes of their top notes and ruin the scent.
Understanding Scent Families
In a previous blog post, we explained the concept of a fragrance wheel.
As a general rule, perfumes from the same scent family or category tend to go well together.
The four main scent families are, floral, fresh, woody and oriental.
That means… If you like the Floral scent family, you can mix and match any flower notes such as jasmine, rose, lily etc.

You can experiment further by mixing perfumes from different scent families.
For example, a woody aroma would work great with floral or fruity notes, but they might not work with fresh, water notes.
It’s important to test different combinations before you find one that works for you.
Getting over the cost barrier
Buying perfumes can cost a bomb. Quality perfumes are, after all, expensive.
But you can consider buying smaller quantities first. If you end up not liking it, then you won’t be stuck with the whole bottle.
Scentses and Co offers a variety of small sized bottles. They’re great for you to explore different fragrances and even for experimenting.
