EDP or EDT? Which one is right for you?
Choosing the right perfume is vital to making a good impression.
Intense, strong smells can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. But softer perfumes might wear off too soon to have an impact.
Choosing the right strength and concentration is essential to making the best possible impact.
1. Why knowing the technical terms matters
If you're a budding perfume enthusiast just starting out, the technical terms involved in perfume can be a bit confusing.
French terms like Eau De Parfum and Eau De Toilette can fly over the heads of English speakers.
But getting the right kind of perfume can be absolutely crucial sometimes.
For example, choose the wrong perfume, and it might wear off too soon. It wouldn't have as much of an impact if you’re at a long event.
So we’ve made this easy guide to help you on your perfume journey!
2. What is perfume concentration?

You’ve no doubt already heard the terms EDP and EDT, but what do they actually mean?
These terms usually refer to fragrance concentration or the ratio of alcohol to perfume.
The higher the percentage of perfume, the longer the perfume will last.
Eau de Parfum usually contains about 15 to 20% perfume. While Eau de Toilette contains about 5 - 15%.
3. Eau de Parfum (EDP)

EDP is perfect if you need a long lasting perfume. It lasts for about 8 hours.
If you were traveling by plane to an important board meeting in another city, you'd want to still smell great when you arrive right?
EDP is the choice for you if you need longer lasting perfumes.
4. Eau de Toilette (EDT)
Eau de Toilette is the less strong version. It’s meant to last for about 2 - 4 hours.
It's great if you’re looking for a more cost effective option, since it’s usually cheaper than EDP.
If you usually need perfumes for short dinner events or parties, a perfume that lasts 8 hours might be a bit of a waste.
So EDT is the better option for you.
Scentses and Co offers a variety of options from both EDP and EDT.
It’s the perfect opportunity to experiment with different types and concentrations to find out which perfume works best for you.
